Klima

A nice wind blows from the atlantic ocean, which keeps the moskitos far away from Zebrabar. In the night it can become quite fresh, therefore we suggest that you take warm clothes with you.

We recommend: Yellow fever, Hepatitis A, Polio and Prophylaxy against Malaria.

Visa

Senegal - For Swiss citizens compulsory. Senegalese consulates you find in:

Mauritania - Since January 2009 it is not possible anymore to get a visa in Rosso. It needs to be collected at the Mauritanian Embassy in Dakar.

Carnet de passage en douane

Senegal does not accept the 'carnet de passage en douane' anymore. At the border you need to ask for a 'passavant'. Cost: 2'500 CFA. Validity: 10 days, with the possibility to extend 2 x 15 days (max 40 days). Extensions can be issued in St Louis, Ziguinchor, Tambacounda and Diourbel.

Money

The CFA is linked to the Euro.
1 Euro = 640 CFA

At Zebrabar as well as petrol stations and bigger shops you are able to pay in Euro.

Rally

There is an increasing number of private rallies from England, Holland and Switzerland to Senegal. They all start at the end of December and last for about 3 weeks. Further information you can find under:
